Frigidaire refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers have a plastic water hose that connects to a valve under a sink or on the wall behind the refrigerator. If you notice water on the floor or in the sink cabinet, there's a good chance the hose needs to be replaced. Frigidaire water hoses are available in kits at appliance accessory stores. As a homeowner, you can save the cost of a professional by removing the old hose and installing the new one. In most cases, the job takes about 30 minutes.
Remove bottles or other items from the refrigerator that may tip over when replacing the hose. It's not necessary to clear out the shelves or freezer. Close the refrigerator door, and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Roll the refrigerator straight out away from the wall to access the water-hose attachment at the back of the refrigerator. Place an old towel on the floor.
Turn off the valve under the cabinet or at the wall where the other end of the water hose attaches. Use a small plastic bucket or tub to catch drips of water, and unscrew the hose fitting from the valve, using an open-end wrench. Pull the end of the hose out of the valve, and slide the fitting off the hose.
Unscrew the fitting at the back of the refrigerator with the wrench, and pull the end of the hose out of the port on the refrigerator. For a hose that runs through the side of a cabinet, pull it out of the hole in the cabinet. Discard the old hose and the fittings.
Feed one end of the new hose through the hole in the cabinet, reach inside the cabinet and pull the end to the valve where the old hose was detached. This isn't necessary if the old hose was detached from a valve on the wall behind the refrigerator.
Slide one of the new fittings onto the end of the hose with the open end facing the end of the hose. Slide on one of the small compression washers. Fit the end of the hose into the hole in the valve, screw the fitting onto the valve, and tighten the fitting with the wrench.
Slide the other fitting and washer onto the end of the hose that attaches onto the port on the refrigerator. Fit the end of the hose into the port, screw on the fitting, then tighten it with the wrench.
Turn on the water valve a little and check both fittings for drips. Tighten a fitting a bit more to stop drips. Turn the valve fully on. Roll the refrigerator back into place and plug in the power cord.
